Who is Maya Angelou?
Maya Angelou was an American author, actress, screenwriter, dancer, poet, civil rights activist, born in Missouri, best known for her 1969 memoir, as the first non-fiction bestseller by an African American woman.
She wrote 36 books including cookbooks and her gift for crafting words has forever left us with some of the most inspirational quotes of our time. She spoke 6 languages. English, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Italian, and Fante (a dialect of Akan native to ghana). She was the first black woman to conduct a cable car in san Francisco.
